South Wales was a breeding ground for some of the world’s most famous boxers. No doubt the harsh lives of these mining communities bred a society of hardened young boys. Today, names such as Freddie Welsh, Tommy Farr and Joe Calzaghe are world famous. In 1997 the Library acquired an archive of scrapbooks of Freddie Welsh.
