Swansea photographers
Swansea’s early photographers were the first to create family photo albums. They were also responsible for important technological discoveries, including taking the first instantaneous photos. From 1978 onward, the Library acquired some of its greatest photographic treasures, taken by Swansea’s early photographers in the 19th century. The importance of the contribution of Swansea’s photographers to the development of photography in Wales cannot be overstated.
