Literature: Draft of 'Cysgod y Cryman'

A manuscript draft of the famous novel, Cysgod y Cryman (The Sickle’s Shadow) by Islwyn Ffowc Elis, published in 1953. The initial title ‘Lle’r oeda’r Cryman’ (Where the sickle rests) was changed as the writing progressed. This, and the sequel Yn ôl i Leifior (Return to Lleifior), 1956, were adapted for television in the 1990s. In a poll conducted by the Arts Council of Wales in 1999, Cysgod y Cryman was voted the best Welsh novel of the 20th century.
