Lady Llanover: Letter about Welsh costumes for staff
A letter reflecting the importance that Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover, attached to the traditional Welsh dress. She insisted on her maids wearing the dress, despite their lack of enthusiasm. One of the worst kept secrets was the maids’ practice of changing into ‘normal’ clothes at one of the estate’s lodges before going into Brecon on their day off.
