Mystic powers: Book of spells
A volume belonging to John Harries (d. 1839), Cwrtycadno, Carmarthenshire, famous in his day as an astrologer and physician. People would visit him regularly for medical treatment, or to remove a spell with which they believed they had been cursed. The volume contains a number of illustrated incantations, signs and astrological calculations from the 19th century.
