Ieuan Gwyllt (1822-1877)

In 1936 the Library acquired the manuscript of the 1876 edition of the LlyfrTonau Cynulleidfaol (Congregational tune book) by John Roberts, ‘Ieuan Gwyllt’, first published in 1859. This publication helped to transform congregational singing in Wales. Ieuan Gwyllt came to be known as the father of the Gymanfa Ganu.
