Plaid Genedlaethol Cymru (The Welsh Nationalist Party)
Plaid Genedlaethol Cymru was established in Pwllheli on 5 August 1925. It was an amalgamation of Byddin Ymreolwyr Cymru (the Welsh home rule army), established in north Wales, and Y Mudiad Cymreig (the Welsh movement), based in the south. It was established in response to the failure of Cymru Fydd in the previous century and the increasing need for an organization that would put the needs of the people of Wales first.
